And Now Your 1991 Art Rewind…OH YEAH!

1.  Pearl Jam releases its debut album, Ten. While the album and the band received wildly differing reviews, it slowly grew in popularity and went on to sell over 10 million copies.

2.  Disney releases one of the signature films of its golden age: Beauty and the Beast. Generally recognized as one of the greatest animated films of all time, it received an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture and won for Best Score and Best Original Song.

3.  In more animation news, Nickelodeon premieres its first three original animated series: Rugrats, Doug, and Ren & Stimpy. We swear we know someone who was Quailman (from Doug) for Halloween this year.

4.  Garth Brooks releases his third album, Ropin’ the Wind, which includes singles like Rodeo and The River. The album would go on to become one of the best-selling albums of all time in any genre. It also cemented Brooks’ place as a country music superstar.

5.  Tennessee Ernie Ford, the legendary singer and Country Music Hall of Fame member, dies. He was hospitalized shortly after leaving a state dinner at the White House (hosted by then-President George H.W. Bush).
